Privacy policy

Last updated: August 19, 2026

You're trusting us with your name, your address, and your card details just to buy some socks. We don't take that lightly. Here's the deal: we collect what we need to get your order to your door, keep your account secure, and show you things you'll actually want to see. We never sell your information. If you want the full, plain-English breakdown of what we collect, why, and who we share it with, it's below.

1. Who we are

This policy covers yourlostsocks.com, owned and operated by Your Lost Socks Inc. ("we," "us," "your Lost Socks," "YLS"). It applies to anyone who visits our site or buys from us.

2. What we collect

When you visit our site, we automatically pick up a few technical details: your browser type, IP address, time zone, the pages you look at, what site sent you to us, and how you move around once you're here. We get this through cookies, log files, and small tracking pixels. We call this Device Information, and on its own it doesn't tell us who you are - just how the site is being used.

When you place an order (or start one and don't finish), we collect your name, shipping and billing address, email, phone number, and payment details. We call this Order Information, and it's what lets us actually ship you your socks.

Together, we refer to both as Personal Information.

3. Why we collect it

We use your Order Information to:

  • Process your payment, pack your order, and get it shipped
  • Send you order confirmations and updates on where your socks are
  • Answer your questions and sort out any issues with your order
  • Screen for fraud, so nobody else can use your card to buy socks on your dime
  • Let you know about offers, restocks, and new drops - if you've opted in

We use your Device Information to:

  • Understand what's working on the site and what isn't, so we can make it easier to shop
  • Measure whether our ads are actually reaching the right people
  • Keep the site and your account secure

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. Full stop. We do work with a small number of trusted partners who need certain data to help us run the business:

  • Shopify: powers our store and checkout. Shopify's privacy policy
  • Shopify Payments: and other payment processors — handle your card details securely so we never store them ourselves
  • Klaviyo: sends the emails and texts you've signed up for (order updates, offers, restock alerts)
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google Ads: help us show relevant ads and measure whether they're working
  • Shipping and fulfillment partners: get just enough of your order information to get your socks to your actual door

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers, or our business.

5. Cookies and ads

We use cookies and similar tools (like the Meta and Google pixels) to remember your cart, understand how you use the site, and show you ads that are actually relevant instead of random. You're not stuck with this if you'd rather opt out:

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly in your settings — check "help" in your browser for how.

Do Not Track: Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There's no standard yet for how sites should respond to it, so we don't currently change what we collect based on it.

6. Your rights

You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you'd like to do any of that, email us at admin@yourlostsocks.com and we'll take care of it.

If you're a Canadian resident, this applies to you under Canada's federal privacy law
(PIPEDA). If you ever feel we haven't handled your information properly, you also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

If you're a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA to know what we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information - which is easy for us, since we don't sell it.

7. How long we keep your information

  • Order records: kept for at least six years, in line with Canadian tax and bookkeeping requirements
  • Marketing data (like your email or phone number for our lists): kept until you unsubscribe, or up to two years of inactivity
  • Support conversations: kept for twelve months after we've resolved things, in case you need to follow up

8. If the business changes hands

If Your Lost Socks is ever sold, merged, or restructured, your information may be transferred as part of that deal - but it would still be covered by a privacy policy.

    9. Kids

Your Lost Socks is built for adults doing their own shopping. Our site isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we find out we've accidentally collected information from a child, we'll delete it right away.

    10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our business grows or as laws change. If we do, we'll post the update here with a new date at the top, so it's worth a glance every so often if you're curious.

    11. Contact us

Questions about this policy, or want to exercise any of the rights above? Reach out - we're real people, not a form letter.
